Super English ("the App") is an English conversation practice app powered by AI. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your personal information.
By using the App, you are deemed to have agreed to the collection and use of information described in this policy. However, for the transmission of data to a third-party AI service (OpenAI), we separately obtain your explicit consent by checkbox on a dedicated consent screen within the App.
Information We Collect
The App collects the following information:
Account information: email address, username, display name
Device identifier: to prevent abuse, an anonymous device-specific ID (UUID) is stored in the Keychain
Learning data: conversation history, grammar mistakes, vocabulary data, study time, consecutive study days
Voice data: if you use voice input, your audio is temporarily processed to convert it to text (via the OpenAI API)
Usage data: statistics such as session counts and feature usage
About voice data:
With voice input, your recording is sent to OpenAI's Whisper API and converted to text. Voice data is not retained after conversion to text.
Data Transmission to AI Services and Consent
To provide its English conversation features, the App sends your conversation text and voice data to a third-party AI service. At first login, on a dedicated screen within the App, we explain what data is sent, where it is sent, and the purpose, and obtain your explicit consent by checkbox. No data is sent without your consent.
Data sent: conversation text, voice data, learning context (such as your level and summaries of past conversations)
If you do not consent: core features such as AI conversation, warm-up, grammar correction, and speech recognition will not be available.
You can review or change your consent at any time from Settings → "Legal" → "AI data sharing consent." If you withdraw consent, the AI features above are disabled immediately.

Sharing With Third Parties
We do not sell, disclose, or share your personal information with third parties except in the following cases:
OpenAI (with consent): conversation text, voice data, and TTS requests are processed in accordance with OpenAI's privacy policy. They are sent only with your consent
A8.net: anonymous access logs are sent to measure ad-banner impressions
As required by law: when there is a formal request from a law or regulatory authority
We do not sell your data: we never sell your data to third parties.
Data Protection
Your data is protected by password hashing, JWT authentication, and HTTPS encryption. Data is stored on EC2 servers on AWS (Tokyo region).
Data Retention and Deletion
When you delete your account: you can request deletion at any time from the Settings screen in the App. Upon request, personal information such as your email address, username, and display name is anonymized immediately
Data after anonymization: conversation history, learning records, and similar data are retained within the system in a non-identifiable form (for auditing and abuse investigation)
Conversation logs: automatically deleted two years after last use
Voice data: discarded immediately after conversion to text
How to delete from within the App:
Settings → Account → "Delete account" → type "DELETE" to confirm

Request access to and confirmation of the personal data we hold
Request correction of inaccurate data
Delete your account: you can do this at any time from the Settings screen in the App (effective immediately)
Withdraw consent to specific data processing (changeable from Settings → "AI data sharing consent")

Children's Privacy
The App is not intended for children under 13. If we unintentionally collect information from someone under 13, we will delete it promptly.
Changes to This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. For significant changes, we will notify you via an in-app notification or email.
